A Legacy of Light and Hope
As St. James Anglican Church celebrates its 200th anniversary, we are reminded that every generation has received gifts from those who came before them.
Throughout our church, memorials bear witness to lives of faith and generosity. They tell the story of people who loved this parish deeply and chose to invest in its future.
Among the most significant is the Langstaff Memorial, which commemorates a legacy gift that helped renew the life of St. James at a pivotal moment in its history. More than a financial gift, it became a lasting expression of hope — strengthening the ministry of the parish and helping to prepare St. James for the generations that followed.
As part of our bicentennial celebrations, St. James will establish The Bicentennial Circle to honour a new generation of faithful stewards.
Adjacent to the Langstaff Memorial, a commemorative plaque will recognize those who, during this bicentennial year, have chosen to remember St. James Anglican Church in their estate plans through a legacy gift.
Together, these two memorials will tell a continuous story of generosity across the generations — those who strengthened the parish in its second century and those who have committed themselves to its third.
Membership in The Bicentennial Circle is open to individuals who have informed the parish that they have included St. James Anglican Church in their estate plans. Public recognition is entirely voluntary, and those who prefer to remain anonymous will be honoured with gratitude while their wishes are fully respected.
The Bicentennial Circle is not intended to recognize the size of a gift, but rather the spirit in which it is given.
Each name represents a prayerful commitment to the future — a declaration of confidence that the worship, ministry, music, fellowship, outreach, and Christian witness of St. James Anglican Church will continue to bless the community for generations to come.
By making this commitment during our bicentennial year, members of The Bicentennial Circle become part of the living history of St. James. Their generosity will help carry forward a parish that has served Kemptville faithfully since 1826 and now looks with hope toward its third century of ministry.
